First and foremost, the Deb Schumacher Foundation and its officers want to thank everyone for their previous support. In just three years we have raised over $300,000 to send directly to the Deb Schumacher Fund benefiting the Department of Neurology at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. The love and support we have received from our community has been remarkable and truly shows the power of what small communities can achieve!
Your donations have led to ground breaking discoveries in Alzheimer’s research. The OSU Wexner Medical Center Biomarker Lab is one of only a few centers worldwide working to develop novel blood tests to allow early detection of frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, the second most common dementia in patients under 65, behind Alzheimer’s disease. This debilitating disease strikes patients in the prime of life and is often associated with severe behavioral features and rapid functional decline. With your continued support, Ohio State will be able to continue to build upon the critical biomarker research efforts assisting with early detection and novel therapies to treat Alzheimer’s especially in early onset occurrences.
Golf
Where it all began
We will once again be having a two-day event on Friday July 28th, and Saturday July 29th. Teams are limited to 18 per day due to the size of Switzerland Golf Course. We could go somewhere else, but why would we want to move away from the community that has given us so much support? Registration for all previous teams is open now, and we will fully open up registration May 15th for our new friends.

Fun for everyone!
Friday: Friday evening events at the golf course are back for 2023! We will be having a BBQ dinner with live music provided by The Shuman Band (and unfortunately some guest appearances that can’t sing nearly as well, they are claiming this year is BYOH “Bring your own Harmonica”). Allegedly, the neighbors will have some colorful night rockets from China on display too. (Our lawyer won’t let us admit what we are doing or call them for what they really are.)

Saturday afternoon and evening we will have some amazing volunteers donating their time to sell chicken dinners at the Woodsfield Moose Lodge. Please plan on stopping by, grabbing a great meal, listening to some music and enjoy the day. Saturday night we are bringing back the auction. We plan on it being bigger and better than ever - as we already have some amazing donated items waiting, including multiple OSU autographed memorabilia. These items aren’t even “allegedly” signed, we have the paperwork!
About Our Cause
Over the last 5 years our scramble has been able to raise over $300,000 which is all donated to The Deb Schumacher Fund in Alzheimer Research at The Ohio State University supporting The Wexner Medical Center.
The Wexner Medical Center has dedicated the donations to the OSU Neuroscience Biomarker Laboratory, which is dedicated to novel biomarker and drug target discovery for Alzheimer’s disease.
The biomarker lab is currently one of only a few centers worldwide working to develop novel blood tests to
allow early detection of frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, the second most common dementia in patients under 65, behind Alzheimer’s disease. This debilitating disease strikes patients in the prime of life and is often associated with severe behavioral features and rapid functional decline. With continued support of the Monroe County Alzheimer’s Golf Scramble, Ohio State University will be able to continue to build upon the critical biomarker research efforts assisting with early detection and novel therapies to treat Alzheimer’s especially in early onset occurrences. Support from community fundraisers such as this provides vital funding that is allowing researchers to create the future of medicine to improve people’s lives around the world.
